HOW TO PREP YOUR PUPS..πππ
π§A good way to desensitise your pooch is by playing firework sounds through Alexa ( or equivalent AI). Start at a very low volume and gently increase the sound levels. The measure of success is your dog NOT reacting to the noise. This needs to start as early as possible at least a few weeks before bonfire night
π€ Close your curtains
πΊ Pop your TV and radio on to counteract the noise of the fireworks
π΄Feed your dog early to ensure they don’t miss a meal through stress
β€ Set up a den area or crate so that your dog has a safe space to retreat too. This is best to set up at least a few weeks prior to bonfire night. Use treats and toys to start a positive association to the area
π Exercise your pooch early in the day so you don’t need to walk when fireworks are more likely to be set off
πWhen letting your dog out the morning after bonfire night, check your garden for fireworks debris so that they don’t eat anything unwanted.
π€If your dog is worried, give them comfort. You can’t make the fear worse. The fear is already there. Just think, if you are worried about something does a hug make you feel better?..same for your worried poochπ€
